18.00 Meet the workshop hosts, Oivind on hand to do an initial equipment check, run through the programme and activities.

20.00 Supper at Casa Fuzetta cooked by Algarve Chefs, Sara and Ricardo


08.00 Breakfast 

Time spent in and around Olhao, daily food market on the waterfront, exteriors, street art, 30’s cinema, architecture, cityscape, waterfront. 

Return to Casa Fuzetta for 12.30 and then walk to local bodega for Tapas and Wine tasting.  Enjoy typical Portuguese dishes and wines with lots of opportunity to shoot food and wine with both interior and exterior light conditions.

15.00 return to Casa Fuzetta, time to edit your photos.

Caroline, Oivind, Jayne available from 5pm for discussion, feedback, portfolio review etc 

19.00 evening aperitif 

20.00 Dinner at local restaurant Tasca O Gallo – variety of small plate starters followed by Portugese Cataplana, desserts and wine.


08.00 Breakfast

09.30 Trip to the Olive grove for a tour and chance to photograph the harvesting and processing of the olives, as well as take landscape and portrait shots within the olive groves, followed by an olive oil tasting session.

Opportunity to visit local ceramic shop to purchase foodie styling props.

14.00 Return to Casa Fuzetta 

Time to shoot more local scenes in Olhao or to just  relax by the pool or indulge in a massage treatment – these must be booked in advance.

15.00 Jayne to host a cooking with Olive Oil demonstration

Caroline available for portfolio review, editing of images 

Oivind: available to give feedback and guidance on post production of images in lightroom/photoshop.

18.30 aperitif and talk by Kevin Gould acclaimed Guardian food and travel writer and local restauranteur about Olhao and Portuguese food. 

20.00 dinner at Kevin Gould’s restaurant Cha Cha Cha.


07.30 Breakfast 

08.30 shoot the extensive food and fish markets in Olhao as well as the amazing local Saturday market along the waterfront.

10.30 gather at the boat departure point for a trip to Rio Formosa, Salt pans, Oyster fishermen, Culatra island in the lagoon. 

14.00 return to waterfront, more opportunities to shoot in Olhao or return to Casa Fuzetta.

15.00 shoot food bought in the market as a ‘raw ingredients’ workshop with Jayne and Oivind.

16.00 Algarve Chefs arrive to prepare for dinner and opportunity for informal shooting of them at work and in the kitchen.

Caroline available for editing, reviews, feedback sessions.

18.00 Aperitif and discussion of the week’s activities. Each participant has a folio of 10 images to be discussed and shared with the group.

As much or as little as you wish. Some people will arrive with nothing, others with a host of equipment/moodboards and a particular aesthetic in mind.

It’s entirely up to each participant, we just want you to learn to shoot the content that is relevant to you, regardless of your skill level or kit.
